Everything about RGB LED lighting
RGB stands for Red Green Blue and is used in many applications. It is also used in LED lighting. But what is RGB anyway? And how does RGB LED lighting work? What are the benefits and what can it best be used for? We are happy to tell you more about it in this blog.
What is RGB?
RGB is a specific color model where black is the basic color. It is an additive color system that is based on the addition of different light colors. When two primary colors are combined, a lighter color is created. When the three primary colors are combined, white light is created. RGB is widely used in displays. If you look closely at a pixel, you will see a red, green and blue sub-pixel that together produce the correct light color.
Another common color model is CMYK. A big difference between CMYK is that when CMYK mixes all colors, black is created. White then forms with RGB.
How does RGB LED lighting work?
With RGB LED lighting, red, green and blue LEDs are integrated into one housing. When they burn at a full and equal intensity and overlap, white light is created. If the colors only partially overlap, a different color is also created. The light intensity also plays an important color here. By allowing an LED to burn more or less, the light source can show even more different colors. LED has long been known as a cold, bright white light. This is because with RGB LED lighting when these colors overlap, a kind of blue-white light was created. However, that is no longer the case, but with RGB it is not possible to make a warm white light. That is why RGBW was created. The W stands for White. In addition to the normal red, green and blue LED.
RGB LED outdoor lighting
RGB LED lighting is used a lot outside. If you would like to have RGB LED lighting outside, it is important that this is properly installed. It is also important that everything is watertight so that the lighting does not break after a rain shower. This not only concerns the water tightness of the LED lighting itself, but also the water-tightness of the peripherals such as the adapter and the dimmer or controller. We are happy to advise you on the right kind of RGB LED outdoor lighting.
